De hoofdstukken bestaan allemaal uit drie delen (A, B en C). Elk deel behandelt een subthema van het hoofdthema. De thema's sluiten nauw aan bij de belevingswereld van de beginnende cursist. Elk hoofdstuk begint met een introductiepagina. Op deze pagina staan de titel van het hoofdstuk, de thema's en de functies. Daarnaast introduceren foto's het thema van het hoofdstuk. In het bijbehorende hoofdstuk in het werkboek staat een opdracht bij deze foto's. Na de introductiepagina volgen de oefeningen. In het tekstboek staan oefeningen voor alle vaardigheden. Er is relatief veel aandacht voor spreekvaardigheid. Ter bevordering van de communicatie werken cursisten in tweetallen, kleine groepjes of met de hele groep met rollenspellen, conversatie en spelletjes. Er is veel afwisseling in werkvormen en soorten oefeningen zodat de cursisten hun interesse vasthouden. In de klassikale lessen zal veel gewerkt worden met het tekstboek, terwijl cursisten het werkboek voornamelijk zelfstandig zullen doorwerken. Bij de oefeningen staan symbolen, zodat direct duidelijk is om wat voor soort opdracht het gaat: luisteropdracht, kettingoefening (spreekoefening), spreekoefening in tweetallen, spreekoefening in drietallen, spreekoefening in groepjes, oefening met een kopieerblad. Naast deze oefeningen komen de volgende elementen in elk hoofdstuk van het tekstboek terug: notities, aanvulschema's, uitdrukkingen, uitspraak, grammatica- en idioom-overzicht, can-do-statements. Het tekstboek bevat drie bijlagen: de transcripties van de luisterteksten uit het tekstboek, het grammaticaoverzicht, waarin de behandelde grammatica op thema staat gerangschikt, en een lijst met onregelmatige verba.
